Broadband saw big jump since 2008, new Pew study reveals

Despite the difficult economy, the number of adult Americans with broadband connectivity at home increased nearly 15% between 2008 and 2009, according to data released today from the Pew Internet and American Life Project, which has conducted an influential survey about broadband adoption for about 10 years. The latest home broadband study by the Pew Internet Project finds that 47 percent of all adult Americans have a broadband connection at home, a five percentage point increase from early 2006. Also noteworthy, “the percentage of African-American adults with a home broadband connection has nearly tripled, from 14 percent in early 2005 to 40 percent in early 2007.”
